From Monday 16th September to Saturday, 21st September PILOLO GHANA is organizing the Taadi Social Media Weekend (TaadiSMW) to mark this year’s national volunteers’ month. This event is by Pilolo Ghana in partnership with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the African Youth and Adolescents’ Network on Population and Development (AfriYAN) Ghana and 20+ other partners and sponsors, in the spirit of collaboration towards the global development agenda.
The #TaadiSMW will be in two phases; an online-based phase and a physical phase which will be held at the Takoradi Mall, Western Region. The Western Regional Minister, Honorable Kwabena Okyere-Darko will be present to give the keynote speech on the theme “The Big Question; Is It Worth sharing?”
TaadiSMW is the first of its kind in the Region and a free week-long event that will not only focus on promoting development through digital technologies but also amplify social work, volunteerism and digital entrepreneurship in Takoradi in an interactive, engaging, educative and fun way.
The online-based sessions will be capacity building sessions (through webinars, Facebook live and twitter chats). For each session, the main hosts are most likely to have a few participants physically.
The TaadiSMW 2019 will explore these main sections:
● Social Media utilization for community development
● Volunteerism and its contribution to the attainment of the ICPD, SDGs and AU Agenda 2063.
● Entrepreneurship
● A roll out of CSE (in two modules – SRH and SGBV)
Moderators for the week-long event are radio personalities like Joe Kumi, Feggy, Miss Rosaline Djan , Miss Naa Ayorkor, Kwame Legend, Yao Mawutor Fianu and Justice Baidoo.
Selected resource personnel will give daily lectures on various topics within the week ahead of the main event on Saturday. Some of the topics to be discussed are; Mental Health and our physical wellbeing, Road Safety, Ghanaian Educational System, Sanitation and Personal Hygiene.
On Friday, 20th September will be a Fri-Yay! Hangout and Story Telling by Social Media Influencers like Maasi Esi, Too Much, FiifiAdinka, Reuben Griffith Bekoe, Bishop, Tony Botwe Jnr, Egya Ampaabeng, Tertrics Family, Jumic Anderson, Abeiku Quansah and DJ Aljahzeera.
The main event day, Saturday 21st September will be divided into three parts where Social Media, Volunteerism and Entrepreneurship in relation to community development.
There will be a series of poetry performances, musical interludes and networking as the topics are being discussed. Audience will be allowed to engage the speakers in questioning and answering sessions at the end of every part.
Some of the speakers on the main event day will be the Western Regional Minister, Honorable Kwabena Okyere-Darko, Ralph Menz, Ian Quhachi, Dr. Ishmael Ackah, Henry Ayi Cobblah and representatives from UNFPA, NYA, AfriYAN, EazzySocial, iCode and TalentsInAfrica.
The event promises to be a successful one if everything goes as planned.
