Okatakyie Amankwaa Afrifa Launches His Campaign To Become The Next Western Regional Secretary Of The NPP

Okatakyie Amankwaa Afrifa who is one of the key contenders vying for the position of Secretary in the upcoming Western Regional Elections of the NPP on Tuesday 17th May 2022 launched his campaign.

OKT as he is affectionately called is contesting for the Secretary position for the third time after failing in his previous two attempts. Currently, he is the Director of the National Service Secretariat, Western Region, and has served the NPP in various capacities such as being a member of the Western Region NPP disciplinary committee (April 2018-Present), Regional Communications Officer, Western Region (January 2014-April 2018) among others.

During the launch of his campaign, OKT pledged his commitment for the party “to break the 8” should party delegates give him the nod.

Addressing party faithfuls who were present, he indicated that the welfare of and equipping of party members to sell the good policies of the government is his number one priority.

He also observed the gap between the government machinery and the party which he promised that together with the other executives they will bridge.

The campaign launch was attended by a section of the media in the Western Region. The NPP Western Regional Executives elections is slated for the 28th of May,2022.

Before the launch of his campaign, Okatakyie Amankwaa Afrifa shared his thoughts about party loyalty.

According to him, members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should embrace party cohesion and he made this known in a lengthy post he made.

The post he made reads;

“The fallouts from this year’s Polling Station Executive and Electoral Area Coordinators Elections have generated mixed-feelings among Ghanaians, particularly members of the UP Tradition.

However the elections turned out in any of the Constituencies, I believe there are lessons to draw from. I am particularly excited about the Alternative Dispute Resolution and Legal Support Committee, launched to address some of the issues that emanated from the elections. It is my hope that this step towards reconciliation at the grassroots level would be embraced by all.

The NPP has always been faced with challenges at every level. The beautiful thing, however, has been, how we always come out better.

While we prepare to take the next step of conducting the various Constituency Elections, let us all be guided by the greater good. In that, Ghanaians deserve better in the Party that runs the affairs of this country. A win for the NPP is a win for Ghana.

In the face of some economic challenges influenced by the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic and other external factors facing the world economy, the goal for every political player in the NPP, must be geared towards helping to address these challenges. We cannot afford to be fighting among ourselves and creating avoidable tensions.

When we are at the crossroads and push comes to shove, MAY WE CONSIDER PARTY LOYALTY above OUR PERSONAL INTERESTS.
Indeed, history has taught us that Party cohesion always wins. May we never forget what the 2008 elections left us with!

I am personally committing to this agenda, and hope you do too! I am Okatakyie Amankwaa Afrifa (OKT), Western Regional Secretary Aspirant.

I have gone through the mill and have learnt at all levels, from experienced hands.

I believe TIME ASO to elect faithful and loyal servants of the NPP tradition to BreakThe8.

Indeed NYAME MBER NYI!”
