The 15:17 to Paris, a Movie directed by Clint Eastwood.
While the found footage technique and the one shot style (like in ‘Victoria’) gives a touch of realism and helps in making proceedings gripping, casting real life heroes who are non-professional actors doesn’t have the same effect. Even if they are enacting their own story.
The 15:17 To Paris is the retelling of how 3 American tourists (2 servicemen) thwarted a terrorist attack in Paris. Clint Eastwood’s proclivity to cut back to show the past of the men is excruciating and takes the sting off the situation in the train.
However, the few minutes of the attack itself is well made though it is over before you know it. It is strange how the story of an inspiring incident in the hands of a reputed director results in such a drag of a film.
