Django Girls trained 30 young women programming in Sekondi-Takoradi

Many a time we assume computer programming and or coding or computer literacy in general is for guys but with the help of some volunteers this gap is being bridged by training women in the area of programming where many who take this training serious can also acquire adequate skills and start up their own business from it, be it a full time programmer or part time.

Django Girls is a non-profit organization and a community that empowers and helps women by organizing free programming workshops by providing tools, resources and support.

Django Girls organized free two days Python and Django workshop in Takoradi, and participants had an amazing first hand experience with technology (coding), basically the main aim of this workshop or training is to inspire women to fall in love with programming and also to bring more amazing women into the world of technology.

During the events over the weekend, 30 young women from Takoradi and it environs and from other regions as well came together to learn and build their first web application using HTML, CSS, Python and Django from with the help of their 8 dedicated coaches.

Indeed there was a great impact and from the look on the faces of the participants after the workshop, it was confirmed that certainly the goal was achieved.

We encourage more women to take advantage of these workshops.
