After Nigerian singer/songwriter Burna Boy won the award for Best International Act, his mother, Bose Ogulu, accepted on his behalf and made her way to the stage to deliver an absolute word.
“Thank you very much, BET. Thank you, Africa, because that is the constituency for which we got noticed in the first place,” Ogulu said to the audience. “And the message from Burna I believe would be that every person should please remember that you were Africans before you were anything else. Thank you.”
